PITTSBURGH – During their final meetings with media to conclude the 2023-24 season, Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan and general manager Kyle Dubas acknowledged that Kris Letang played through some serious injuries. Sullivan called Letang a “warrior,” while Dubas said his injuries were “significant.”

Letang said he was dealing with a few injuries but wasn’t sure if offseason surgery would be necessary. Dubas noted that Letang would seek a second opinion regarding surgery and begin to plan for the offseason.

While the team has not provided an update on Letang’s status, he has returned to the gym. In an Instagram story posted by Letang’s trainer, Letang is doing his own off-ice workouts. Jon Chaimberg posted a text exchange between the two, followed by an image of Letang mid-rep.

Chaimberg captioned the image “Trying to keep him out of the gym, just texts unannounced.” It’s possible Letang isn’t yet at 100%, but he'll keep to his offseason routine.

Further updates on Letang's status are sure to come out later in the offseason, but for now, he's doing all he can to stay in shape and prepare for his 19th season in the NHL.
