Even in the preseason, key members of the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup can’t help but take injuries.

While Jake Guentzel slowly works his way back to the lineup, the Penguins will be without defenseman P.O. Joseph.

According to head coach Mike Sullivan, Joseph will be out on a day-to-day basis with a lower body injury.

Joseph was completely absent from the Penguins practice the day following their contest in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Penguins lost that contest 3-0 to the Ottawa Senators and Joseph completed the game.

There were, however, a couple of moments that left Joseph hobbled.

This sort of injury is likely a reason for the recall of Ty Smith earlier in the day.
