Libor Hajek started as a PTO and has earned a contract within the Pittsburgh Penguins system.
Defenseman Libor Hajek entered the Pittsburgh Penguins on a professional tryout contract for their 2023 training camp.
Hajek was one of five PTOs signed by the Penguins and now the second to earn some sort of contract following camp.
It was announced that Hajek has signed a one-year contract at the AHL level with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
While not the full NHL contract he may have been looking for, he impressed the Penguins enough to earn a role in their system.
At only 25-years-old, Hajek is a former member of the New York Rangers system and played in 110 NHL games through his career.
In those contests, Hajek has recorded four goals and eight assists for 12 career points.
Hajek is no stranger to the AHL; While developing with the Rangers, he spent parts of four seasons at the AHL level with the Hartford Wolfpack.
