
The preseason is just about here for the Pittsburgh Penguins as they prepare for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Training camp is well underway and the preseason is just about here as the Pittsburgh Penguins release their rosters for the upcoming split squad games against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The two rosters will not feature many Penguins stars, but plenty of names fans should want to keep an eye on.
The first game takes place at 1:00 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena and will be headlined by forwards Drew O’Connor and Alex Nylander, defenseman P.O. Joseph, and prospect Brayden Yager.
Newcomers like Matt Nieto and Andreas Johnsson will also be part of the 1:00 p.m. game with Joel Blomqvist and Alex Nedeljkovic between the pipes.
The 7:00 p.m. game takes place at Columbus’ Nationwide Arena and will feature key names like Sam Poulin, Ty Smith, and Mark Pysyk.
Taylor Gauthier and Magnus Hellberg will be the goaltending tandem for the 7:00 p.m. game.
The Penguins organizational coaching staff will also be split between the two cities with Mike Vellucci, J.D. Forrest, Kevin Porter, and Kori Cheverie staying in Pittsburgh.
Todd Reirden, Ty Hennes, and Sheldon Brookbank will be behind the bench in Columbus.
Plenty of the names involved in the split squad games are fighting for roles both at the NHL and AHL level.
