After an extremely strong week, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is being recognized by the NHL as their third ‘Star of the Week.’

Over the course of the week, the Penguins played in four games and Crosby recorded seven total points.

Split between five goals and a pair of assists, Crosby was one of the NHL’s most productive player and was riding an 11-game point streak.

The NHL also named Cale Makar and William Nylander as first and second stars respectively.

Crosby kicked off his four-game stretch with a hat trick against the Columbus Blue Jackets and tacked an assist in that game.

In the following two contests against Metropolitan Division opponents, the Penguins lost, but Crosby continued his streak.

An assist against the New Jersey Devils and two more goals against the Carolina Hurricanes sealed Crosby’s spot as a star of the week.

Crosby saw his point streak come to an end against the Vegas Golden Knights, but it wasn’t without effort.

Despite no points, Crosby recorded four shots on goal in the victory.

This is Crobsy’s first time being chosen this season and the second Penguins player to selected as a ‘Star of the Week.’

Evgeni Malkin took third star in the opening week of the season with two goals and four assists for six points in three games.

Crosby has been held completely off the score sheet just two times this season.
