The Pittsburgh Penguins now carry three goalies on their professional roster.

For the time being, the Pittsburgh Penguins will run with a three-goalie system as they not only handed five-years to Tristan Jarry, but they signed another netminder during free agency.

Shortly after announcing the signing of Jarry, the Penguins announced that they had signed goalie Alex Nedeljkovic to a one-year contract.

After an outstanding rookie season in 2020-21, Nedeljkovic has largely struggled at the NHL level.

In 2020-21, he picked up a 15-5-3 record with the Carolina Hurricanes and finished third in Calder Trophy voting for Rookie of the Year.

In the two years that followed with the Detroit Red Wings, he has gone 25-31-11 with a .900 save percentage and 3.35 goals against average.

Nedeljkovic spent part of the 2022-23 season back at the AHL level; he’ll look to revive his game to it’s former glory, likely as backup to Jarry.
