The Pittsburgh Penguins acquire a defenseman for centre Teddy Blueger.

Evgeni Malkin is proving the doubters wrong this season, but Rob Rossi his decision to return boiled down to a loyalty to the Penguins and captain Sidney Crosby.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are sending Teddy Blueger to Las Vegas in a trade with the Golden Knights, the team announced.

The Penguins are receiving defenseman Peter DiLiberatore and a 2024 third-round draft pick for Blueger in the two-team trade. Blueger scored just his second goal of the season this past weekend but has been the topic of trade discussion as his struggling season hit never seemed to redeem itself.

"We are grateful for everything that Teddy has done for this team and the organization over the past 10 years," Penguins general manager Ron Hextall said. "He was one of our most reliable penalty killers and a consummate professional. We wish him nothing but the best going forward."

DiLiberatore is just 22 years old and has played for the Savannah Ghost Pirates and Henderson Silver Knights this season.
