A hire might be made soon, but the Pittsburgh Penguins are continuing to leave no stone unturned.
Despite being near the end of a six-week search for new faces in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ front office, a couple of new names have found themselves among those being interviewed.
According to Elliotte Friedman in a 32 Thoughts column, the Penguins have also had discussions with Scott White and Evan Gold.
White is an assistant general manager with the Dallas Stars as well as the general manager for their AHL affiliate the Texas Stars.
It’s been noted that the Penguins want to build a stronger and more competitive farm team with their front office hires, and White could bring that exact push.
Dallas is currently down 3-0 in their Western Conference Final matchup with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Gold works within the Boston Bruins organization as the assistant general manager and director of legal affairs.
The Bruins hired Gold as the director of legal affairs in 2015 and was named AGM heading into the 2019-20 season.
Gold has worked closely with contract negotiations and salary cap analysis with the Bruins and you could say he’s done a fine job of that.
In the past few seasons, the Bruins have been one of the best teams in the NHL while acquiring and extending guys like Taylor Hall and David Pastrnak.
White and Gold are a pair of late entrants into the race, but could be viable first-time GM options in Pittsburgh.
