Interviews have reached the second round for the Pittsburgh Penguins and big names are still in the running.
The Pittsburgh Penguins entered the offseason beginning their search for a new front office staff following the firings of Ron Hextall, Brian Burke, and Chris Pryor.
Now, over a month later, the Penguins are well into their second round of interviews and are eying a possible hire before the end of next week.
Since the search started, around 20 names were linked as possibilities, but with the second round of interviews taking place, the list has quickly shrunk.
According to Pierre LeBrun of the Athletic, five names have emerged as taking part in the second round of interviews.
LeBrun stated that Eric Tulsky, Dan MacKinnon, Steve Greeley, Jason Karmanos, and Matthieu Darche were all involved.
This is likely an incomplete list, and there is still the outside chance that Kyle Dubas takes over agains as a front runner.
Elliotte Friedman stated during Hockey Night in Canada that the Penguins intend to speak with Dubas following his departure from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The end of the search could be right on the horizon for the Penguins; with the NHL Draft and free agency inching closer, Fenway Sports Group wants to make their hire soon.
