Evan Rodrigues Out of Avalanche Lineup Against Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Colorado Avalanche but will not face a former teammate.

The Pittsburgh Penguins need to find more goals on deflections and rebounds to climb back into the playoffs.

Evan Rodrigues played all 82 games of the 2021-22 season and put up 43 points (19G-24A), but the Pittsburgh Penguins decided not to re-sign him.

While the Penguins could desperately use his talents in the bottom-six, Rodrigues signed a one-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche.

In 58 games this season, Rodrigues has picked up 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points.

The Penguins are in Denver to take on the Avalanche for the second and final time this season, but Rodrigues will not be in the lineup to face his former team.

Rodrigues entered concussion protocol following the Avalanche’s previous contest and has been ruled out against the Penguins.

With Rodrigues’ placement in concussion protocol, he will be out for at least a week.

Rodrigues took a hit to the head from Connor Murphy of the Chicago Blackhawks and did not finish the game.

The last time the Penguins and Avalanche faced off, the Penguins won 2-1 in overtime and Rodrigues did not score a point.

Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar also stated that defenseman Cale Makar will also be out against the Penguins.
