The former Pittsburgh Penguins top prospect has not made a statement following the accusations.

At one point in time, Daniel Sprong was one of the highest rated prospects in the Pittsburgh Penguins pipeline.

After a couple of failed attempts at the NHL level with the Penguins, Sprong found his way to a handful of teams and is starting to gain traction as a depth goal scorer.

Recently signed with the Detroit Red Wings, Sprong might be in some hot water after he was accused of assaulting an IndyCar driver.

Zach Claman DeMelo posted to his Instagram story multiple photos of injuries he sustained which included hand marks on his neck and chipped bloodied teeth.

DeMelo accused Sprong of attacking him while at a night club during Grand Prix weekend in Detroit.

According to DeMelo, Sprong grabbed him by the neck pinned him to a wall before coming back with a sucker punch.

Thanks to legal reasons, DeMelo did not give many more details of the incident but did note that it occurred a few weeks ago.

DeMelo has been receiving dental work following the altercation and has been dealing with a concussion ever since.

No public statements have been made by Sprong or the Red Wings.
