The list of former Pittsburgh Penguins in the postseason shrinks, but there are still some heavy hitters.
Four Teams Remain as the NHL Playoffs reach the Conference Finals; with more teams losing out, there are fewer and fewer former Pittsburgh Penguins remaining.
Between the final four teams, there are only five former Penguins and not all five have contributed this postseason.
The Dallas Stars are the lone team remaining without any representation from former members of the black and gold.
Teddy Blueger, Phil Kessel
There may be two former Penguins on the Vegas Golden Knights roster, but only one of them appeared in games during the second round, and it wasn’t even Phil Kessel.
Teddy Blueger was acquired by the Golden Knights just before the trade deadline and has been used sparingly ever since.
After 18 regular season games with Vegas, Blueger has played in only two postseason games as a fill in for Minchael Amadio.
Kessel played all 82 with the Golden Knights during the regular season but has only played four games all postseason with two assists in the opening round.
Patric Hornqvist
This is another quick one as Patric Hornqvist is still part of the Florida Panthers organzaition, and started the season as an alternate captain, but he hasn’t played since early December.
Hornqvist has been on long-term injured reserve and was not expected to return due to a concussion.
The Panthers are on an unexpected run as they knocked off the top seeded Boston Bruins and the always dangerous Toronto Maple Leafs.
Jordan Staal, Stefan Noesen
The Carolina Hurricanes enter the Eastern Conference Final with arguably the best chance of winning the Stanley Cup.
Led by former Penguins center Jordan Staal as their captain, the Hurricanes are finding ways to win despite a pile of injuries.
The scoring on the Hurricanes has been spread out amongst quite a few players and Staal has been one of them.
In 11 games Staal has recorded two goals and six assists for eight points; Noesen added a goal and an assist to his ledger in the second round to push him to three goals and three assists for six points.
The list may be short, but there are a few fan favorite former Penguins that still have a chance at reaching hockey's mountaintop.
