The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to utilize waivers to trim their training camp roster.
The 2023-24 regular season is approaching and the waiver wire has been active for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
First reported by Elliotte Friedman, the Penguins have place Alex Nylander on waivers.
Along with Nylander, Joona Koppanen and Andreas Johnsson have also been placed on waivers.
Nylander has been battling for a spot in the Penguins’ lineup since the first day of training camp and has been putting up a good fight.
The Penguins have one preseason game remaining and are looking at that match as a final tune up for their roster regulars.
With Nylander, Koppanen, and Johnsson on waivers, all 31 teams will have a chance to claim them within the next 24 hours.
The Penguins have been active this training camp with the waiver wire; they sent a handful of players through once and will likely have to do so again.
Jansen Harkins is also a newcomer to the Penguins organization and was acquired via waiver claim from the Winnipeg Jets.
New president and general manager Kyle Dubas said before training camp that he won't be afraid to utilize waivers and it continues to show.
Head coach Mike Sullivan has also noted that they are closing in on the time to make tough decisions in regards to the roster, and this had to be one of them.
