    Penguins Nearing Tough Decision Time

It's just about time for the Pittsburgh Penguins to start making the tough decisions in building their roster.

Radim Zohorna's preseason performance has him pushing for one of the final roster spots on the Pittsburgh Penguins.

When the Pittsburgh Penguins entered 2023 training camp with 58 players, it was obvious there was going to be some tough decisions to make when forming an opening night roster.

Head coach Mike Sullivan has said as much on multiple occasions through the course of camp, and it’s just about time for the Penguins to make those decisions.

With one preseason game left that might be a final tune-up for NHL regulars, time may have run out for the hopefuls.

Did the right guys impress enough to earn a roster spot? Will there be any surprises in the next round of cuts? Will a prospect see regular NHL time this year?

Radim Zohorna and Alex Nylander have stood out as a duo fighting each and every day for a spot in the lineup.

Not only is it obvious they are fighting, but Sullivan has noticed their ambition and is giving them ample opportunity to impress.

They’ve survived this far and could make it all the way to the regular season.

Sam Poulin is a prospect the Penguins hold in high regard, and while he may not start the season at the NHL level, he is proving to be more than deserving of a shot at regular time.

Despite missing a good chunk of the 2022-23 season, Poulin hasn’t looked out of place at any point during his recent stint with the team.

Starting in the Prospect Challenge, Poulin has looked right at home; he said himself he doesn’t feel like he’s missed any time and he hasn’t looked like it either.

There are still a few names floating around who have a chance at reaching the roster despite entering camp with low expectations.

Professional tryout offers are still around and Sullivan spoke highly of Colin White's efforts in the last preseason game.

Vinnie Hinostroza started camp alongside Sidney Crosby and has continued to look like a useful piece over time.

Ryan Shea has held on to his spot and is showing great versatility every chance he gets.

No matter how the chips fall, the Penguins are set to have a much different roster than they had last year.

It seems like no one has taken a step back and the tough decisions are just about here for the Penguins organization.
