Just to get him off the roster, the Pittsburgh Penguins should look into a deal involving Mikael Granlund.
No matter what way you look at it, the Pittsburgh Penguins need to find a way to drop Mikael Granlund from their roster.
Not long ago, the struggling Penguins forward was listed as a top buyout candidate in the NHL, now he’s being discussed as a top trade target.
Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff listed Granlund as a top trade target for the sole purpose of getting rid of the contract.
Granlund has two years left at $5 million and vastly under performed in his first 21 games with the Penguins.
In those contests he scored just one goal while picking up four assists for a total of five points.
If Kyle Dubas attempts to deal Granlund this summer, he is likely going to have to send more than he likes.
His lack of performance all but guaranteed that the Penguins will not come out as ‘winners’ in a deal involving Granlund.
The smarter options might be to buy out Granlund, but he falls as a top trade target just because the Penguins can’t go on with him or his contract on the roster.
