Penguins Scratch Alex Nylander for Danton Heinen
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been forced to make multiple adjustments to their lineup.
PITTSBURGH - Alex Nylander impressed in his first couple of games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, but there haven’t been any hard numbers.
In his debut with the Penguins, Nylander recorded an assist, but he’s been held from the score sheet in each of the following five games.
With this lack of production and a three-game losing streak, Nylander will be a healthy scratch in place of Danton Heinen.
Head coach Mike Sullivan says quite often that he and his coaching staff do what they can to put the best possible team on the ice every night.
At this particular moment, Heinen seems like a better option in Sullivan’s eyes.
In 52 games this season, Heinen has recorded six goals and 12 assists for 18 points.
Heinen is slotted to play on the third line with Ryan Poehling at center and Mikael Granlund on the opposite wing.
Nylander, played a few games on the second line with Jason Zucker and Evgeni Malkin, before being dropped to the third line.
The Penguins are playing with four defenders on the shelf due to injury.
