Isaac Belliveau has emerged as one of the top prospects in the Pittsburgh Penguins system.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have put trade deadline discussions on hold for a moment to signed prospect Isaac Belliveau to an entry-level contract.
It was announced by the Penguins that Belliveau signed a three-year, entry level deal that will start in the 2023-24 season.
The contract will run through the 2025-26 season.
Belliveau has emerged as one of the Penguins top defensive prospects since being drafted by the team in 2021.
A former fifth round pick (154 overall) Belliveau is having a breakout season in the QMJHL with the Gatineau Olympiques.
In 44 games, Belliveau has scored 10 goals and 30 assists for 40 points and has a plus-38 rating.
Belliveau joins a Penguins prospect core that is pretty thin on defenders.
Ty Smith resides in the AHL, but has NHL talent; while Owen Pickering is a true prospect, but still might be a few seasons away from breaking out.
Despite being a later-round draft pick, the high scoring defender should be considered one of the best prospects in the Penguins system.
