The Pittsburgh Penguins won't take it easy when Connor Bedard looks to make his NHL debut.
Ever since the schedule for the 2023-24 NHL schedule was released, the Pittsburgh Penguins have been in conversation with one of the most anticipated games of the year.
On the first night of the season, the Penguins are set to play host to the Chicago Blackhawks and the most recent first overall pick in Connor Bedard.
The game is expected to be Bedard’s NHL debut and the hype around the top prospect is already to extreme levels.
If you ask Penguins defenseman Ryan Graves, however, there is a reason for the hype; Graves thinks Bedard is already an elite talent and will only get better with age.

Sure, it’s a dream of Bedard’s to play and make his debut against one of his idols in Sidney Crosby, but the Penguins are a team looking for a much better season and a little revenge.
The Blackhawks played a big role in kicking the Penguins out of the postseason forcing them to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
The Penguins could have a score to settle with the Blackhawks and won’t make Bedard’s debut easy.
Jason Demers sees the Penguins as a team looking to fire on all cylinders right out of the gate and should create a good ‘welcome to the NHL moment’ for Bedard.
