The rest of the Pittsburgh Penguins' season will feature plenty of scoreboard watching of the Florida Panthers.

The rest of the Pittsburgh Penguins' season will feature plenty of scoreboard watching of the Florida Panthers.

While the Pittsburgh Penguins need to focus on their own success first and foremost, there is a team worth scoreboard watching for the remainder of the season.

The Florida Panthers currently sit three points behind the Penguins but have put together a good run since the the All-Star break.

With a 10-5-1 record since the start of February, the Panthers have increased their postseason odds to past those of the New York Islanders.

Heading into the weekend, the Penguins and Islanders are knotted with 78 standings points in the Eastern Conference wild card.

The Panthers hold 75 points, but, much like the Penguins, have two games in hand on the Islanders.

The race for the wild card has dwindled down to these three teams and there are only two spots up for grabs.

All three teams are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games making this race exciting, but there will be a lot of scoreboard watching.

None of the three teams will see each other again in the 2022-23 regular season and it’s up to them to decide their fates.

For the Penguins, it all starts with their final battle against the New York Rangers.

The Penguins’ playoff odds have taken a hit and it’s not just due to their recent losses, the surging Panthers have forced their way into the conversation.
