Radim Zohorna is doing all that he can to reach the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup.

Radim Zohorna is doing all that he can to reach the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup.

After being claimed off of waivers ahead of the 2022-23 season, forward option Radim Zohorna is back with the Pittsburgh Penguins and making a much better impression than his first stint.

Ever since the start of the 2023 camp, Zohorna has stood out from the crowded Penguins’ roster and is forcing his way into legitimate conversation for the NHL roster.

Head coach Mike Sullivan said himself that Zohorna is in the fight and nothing seems to be off the table.

As training camp rolls along and multiple rounds of cuts have been made to the roster, Zohorna is still around and taking advantage of every opportunity that comes his way.

In his first outings of the preseason, Zohorna has looked like one of the best players on the ice.

During skates at camp, Zohorna has been utilized in a number of different areas, and he’s never looked out of place.

The utilization of Zohorna could give him an audition on the second line with Evgeni Malkin and Reilly Smith.

During the Penguins practice in Cole Harbour ahead of the Penguins preseason game in Halifax, Zohorna skated on the Penguins’ second line.

If this is where Zohorna plays during the next exhibition game against the Ottawa Senators, this could be his biggest, and possible last chance.

The Penguins will continue to slim their roster and surely another round of cuts will hit when they return to Pittsburgh.

If Zohorna can survive a little longer, he may see his name on the opening night roster.
