
The entire hockey world has taken a moment to mourn the loss of former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Johnson.
The hockey world experienced a great tragedy when it was confirmed that former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Johnson died following a freak accident during a game in the EIHL.
Johnson played 13 games in the NHL, all with the Penguins, but spent a number of seasons with various AHL teams.
While in the AHL, Johnson suited up with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and Ontario Reign.
The majority of Johnson’s playing time and most successful seasons came with the WBS Penguins, where he played 185 games and scored 108 points in three seasons.
Before reaching the ranks of professional hockey, Johnson played his younger days with the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL.
Following his time in the USHL, Johnson returned to his home state of Minnesota to play college hockey for two seasons with the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
After those two seasons, the Penguins signed Johnson as a college free agent in 2017.
During the 2019-20 season, Johnson scored his first and only career goal close to home against the Minnesota Wild.
Many teams and organizations across the hockey landscape have shared their thoughts and condolences to Johnson’s family, friends, and teammates.
Some former teammates of his have also shared their thoughts, as well.
A soccer club in Sheffield, the city where the tragic accident occurred, honored Johnson before their match.
