Kyle Dubas might be weighing his options with more than just the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Kyle Dubas might be weighing his options with more than just the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are closing in on two months without a general manager or president of hockey operations and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) has their eyes set squarely on one person.

For the past few weeks, the Penguins have been linked heavily with Kyle Dubas as FSG put their operation on hold to talk with the former Toronto Maple Leafs GM.

Dubas becoming a free agent made him attractive to not just the Penguins, but possibly a few other teams around the NHL.

Obviously, the sale of the Ottawa Senators might play a hand, but NHL insider Elliotte Friedman believes other teams may have gotten in touch with Dubas.

Friedman said on the 32 Thoughts Podcast that teams around the NHL aren’t willing to fire who they already have in place, but may be willing to bring in Dubas as another voice in their front office.

No specific teams were listed, but Friedman believes there could be more options on the table than just the Penguins.

The process of finding a new GM has started to drag on as the Memorial Day Weekend fades in the rearview, the team needs to make a decision and make it fast.

If they are still waiting on Dubas to make up his mind, they need to apply some pressure and get a final answer.

FSG and the Penguins have backup options waiting in the wings, but how much longer will they wait, too?
