Now on a four-game winning streak, the Pittsburgh Penguins have seen solid games from multiple key players.

Now on a four-game winning streak, the Pittsburgh Penguins have seen solid games from multiple key players.

The Pittsburgh Penguins entered their three-game road trip in California with a 3-6-0 record and dead last in the Metropolitan Division.

Despite their record, the Penguins believed they were putting up good performances and felt like the better team on most nights.

After going a perfect 3-0 on the road trip, they returned home and posted a fourth straight win to continue their climb up the standings.

Now, sitting with a 7-6-0 record, the Penguins are above .500 and a few key players have been playing outstanding hockey to help collect these wins.

    Sidney Crosby

It’s not that Sidney Crosby has been overly dominant to start the season, but the Penguins have gotten steady production from their captain.

In the first 13 games played, Crosby has recorded 15 points and has been held without a point in a game just once.

Crosby is recording past a point-per-game pace, but it still feels like there is another stride to be taken.

The season has been full of one or two-point performances rather than dominating three or four-point nights he’s known for.

Regardless of the domination factor, Crosby has at least come up in key situations and played a huge role in pushing the Penguins along their winning streak.

    Tristan Jarry

Considering how volatile Jarry’s 2022-23 season was, many weren’t sure if he could really be the man in net for the Penguins.

Even after a shaky start to the season, Jarry has really turned up his play and is starting to earn talk as a top goalie in the NHL.

Through 10 games played, Jarry has a league leading three shutouts with a .920 save percentage and 2.23 goals against average.

Jarry just pulled his record to an even 5-5-0, but he’s looked really good in his efforts to pull his numbers in the proper direction.

Now sitting on a three-game winning streak, Jarry hasn’t allowed a goal since the Penguins 10-2 mobbing of the San Jose Sharks.

    Erik Karlsson

It was a slow start for Erik Karlsson, but it’s safe to say he’s found his footing in Pittsburgh.

In his last five games played, Karlsson has recorded nine points (3G-6A) and pulled his numbers to an even point per game.

With 13 points in 13 games, Karlsson offensive expectations are beginning to be met and if it continues the Penguins are truly in for something special.

Karlsson notched two goals in the Penguins most recent victory over the Buffalo Sabres, including a tally on the power play.

The Penguins power play was brutal in the first few weeks of the season, but Karlsson seems to have finally taken the lead as quarterback and the production is following.

Evgeni Malkin, Jake Guentzel, and Bryan Rust have also had themselves more than respectable starts to the season.

Malkin and Guentzel both have a team-leading 16 points and Rust has been clutch with seven goals.

Riding a four-game winning streak, the Penguins are right back to where they want to be and are chasing down playoff spots.
