Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports - Time For The Sharks to Unleash William Eklund

The San Jose Sharks need William Eklund to become a star in the NHL.

Eklund has paid his dues in the AHL and is set to take a significant role in the NHL this season.

Head Coach David Quinn has been deploying the Swede in all situations during the preseason. Quinn wants the winger to be able to play on the penalty kill, which wasn't originally expected of him when he was drafted.

"It's better and better," Eklund said about him on the PK. "I did it a little bit last year for the Barracuda. It's a thing I want to work on to be even better out and to earn more ice time."

Eklund also displayed the ability to shoot a one-timer. During training camp, the 20-year-old has routinely been positioned on the powerplay to shoot the one-timer.

As camp and preseason have gone on, Eklund has seemingly gotten better. Don't forget he had offseason shoulder surgery, so he might've taken some time to get used to contact again.

He displayed his incredible offensive sense with two brilliant passes to Thomas Bordeleau.

Eklund will have a prominent role this season and be deployed as much as David Quinn can.
