Frank Seravalli says San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture is a "prime candidate" to be traded this season.

Logan Couture enters his 15th season with the San Jose Sharks. The captain is now the next star in the organization to have his name fly through trade rumors.
On Tuesday, Frank Seravalli reported that Couture would be a "prime candidate" to be moved this season.
With the move of Erik Karlsson now done and dusted, the Sharks have entered a complete rebuild. Couture is still playing at a high level. He scored 27 goals and 40 assists in 82 games last season.
Couture's value won't get any higher. He's been a consistent player for the majority of his career. His contract has four years left with a cap hit of $8 million. Couture also has a three-team trade list clause.
Like Karlsson, the San Jose Sharks will likely have to eat some salary to get a deal done. Draft capital is precisely what GM Mike Grier needs to continue to acquire.
"I check in with them a lot, and if there ever were to come a time when they felt like they needed or wanted to go somewhere else, it's definitely something I would listen to, and if it made sense for us, I would explore it," Grier said about Couture and Tomas Hertl.
Couture has been week-to-week with a lower-body injury since the start of training camp but returned to the ice for the first time yesterday. His status for opening night is still unclear. Although there is a chance, it doesn't seem likely that he will play.
