The Chicago Blackhawks scored three goals in 1:23 in the third period to ruin San Jose Sharks goalie Devin Cooley's NHL debut with a 5-2 victory on Sunday night.
The Sharks got goals from Ryan Carpenter and Klim Kostin. Kostin matched his point total of four with the Detroit Red Wings in just his fifth game with San Jose. Cooley looks solid throughout, but some tough bounces cost him. He finished the game with 26 saves.
The Blackhawks' goals came off the sticks of Philipp Kurashev, Ryan Donato, Kevin Korchinski, and Joey Anderson. Petr Mrazek made 24 saves.
These teams face off one more time before the end of the season. That game could be a deciding factor in which team finishes with the best lottery odds for the 2024 NHL Draft.
Ryan Carpenter scores his 5th goal of the season after he puts a perfectly placed rebound pass by Alexander Barabanov into the open net.
Klim Kostin stays hot and scores his 5th goal of the season after Mikael Granlund fed him a beautiful saucer pass.
Philipp Kurashev scores his 14th goal of the season on an odd-man rush. Connor Bedard earned a secondary assist on the play.
Ryan Donato scores his 10th goal of the season against his former team to tie the game.
Kevin Korchinski scores his 4th goal of the game to quickly give the Hawks the 3-2.
Joey Anderson somehow gets the puck in for the Blackhawks' 3rd goal in the last 1:23 of game time.
Connor Bedard added an empty net goal.
