Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports - Klim Kostin Making The Most Of Sharks Opportunity

Newly acquired San Jose Sharks forward Klim Kostin has three points in his first three games since joining the team.

Kostin had three goals and one assist in 33 games with the Detroit Red Wings.

Although he played on the fourth line during his first game with the Sharks, he has earned the trust of head coach David Quinn and is expected to stay in the top nine and get powerplay time.

On Thursday, Kostin played on the third line with Nico Sturm and Thomas Bordeleau against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He had taken a few shifts with the team's second powerplay unit, and, based on reports, that should continue. He scored his first goal in the same game off a great feed from Mikael Granlund.

"I've liked his game. Big body, he has some good skill, and he can skate. I've been really pleasantly surprised," Granlund said about Kostin postgame.

Kostin has had solid moments during his NHL career. During the 2022-23 season, He set career highs with the Edmonton Oilers. He played 57 games, scored 11 goals, and had ten assists.

Unfortunately, the former St. Louis Blues first-round pick couldn't find as much success after he was traded to Detroit.

Kostin will get an opportunity for the rest of this season and likely the next, as he is signed through the end of next season with a $2 million AAV. He will be an RFA with arbitration rights after next season, so he could remain with the Sharks.
