The San Jose Sharks took too many penalties and gave up two powerplay goals as the Anaheim Ducks won 3-1.

The Ducks were 0/20 on the powerplay before scoring twice on the man advantage against the Sharks. Troy Terry, Leo Carlsson, and Alex Killorn scored for Anaheim, while Lukas Dostal was outstanding again with 38 saves.
Mikael Granlund scored his first goal of the season on the powerplay in the third period. Mackenzie Blackwood was just as good as Dostal, making 27 saves.
The Sharks gave up another six powerplays against. Will Smith had a solid game to start but faded as the game continued.
San Jose has given up nine powerplay goals in the last three games.
Troy Terry scored to get the Ducks the lead with a powerplay goal. The Ducks hadn't scored a powerplay goal all season until this point.
Mikael Granlund threw a puck to the net that deflected in off a Ducks player to tie it at one. Jack Thompson got an assist for his first NHL point.
Unfortunately for the Sharks, Will Smith took an ill-advised tripping penalty that Leo Carlsson made him pay for.
