Vlasic returned from a one-game injury absence on Saturday and was paired with Matt Benning on defense. In the 3-1 loss, Vlasic was -2 and played 13:06, the least on defense.

Sometimes analytics can be complex to read, but Vlasic had a game score so negative it's blatantly obvious in this case. 

According to JFresh on Twitter, Vlasic's game score of -7.07 was among the worst. 

According to Natural Stat Trick, the Sharks were outshot 16-2 while Vlasic was on the ice. San Jose gave up 13 scoring chances while Vlasic was on the ice.

His contract has three years remaining with a cap hit of $7 million. He also has a modified no-trade clause attached. 

With Vlasic's heavily declining play and big cap hit, GM Mike Grier has no choice other than to keep him around for Sharks head coach David Quinn to deploy.
