Dean Tait - Hockey Shots - Sharks Never Discussed Kevin Labanc Going On Waivers

San Jose Sharks winger Kevin Labanc debuted yesterday, but not without some controversy.

At 9:22 a.m., Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli reported that San Jose would place Labanc on waivers.

Sharks PR refuted the report and said he would not be placed on waivers when asked at morning skate.

Shortly after it was confirmed that Labanc was not on waivers, Seravalli said that the San Jose Sharks "reversed course" and would be in the lineup.

Per Sharks PR, that report had no merit. Labanc and head coach David Quinn confirmed that waivers were never an option for the winger.

"Honestly, and I'm not just saying this, I was absolutely stunned by what was circulated. I don't know what happened, but [it was] never discussed, ever," Quinn said.

While talking to the media during postgame interviews last night, Quinn reaffirmed that he was shocked about the report.

"He had a good night. As I said before, I have no clue where that came from. That's never been discussed," Quinn said. "People like to talk. I get it, but [Labanc] getting in the lineup [is] because of what he's been doing."

Labanc is on the roster, which doesn't look to change soon.
