Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports - BREAKING: Duclair Will Be A Healthy Scratch Against Avalanche

Anthony Duclair will watch from the press box tonight when the San Jose Sharks take on the Colorado Avalanche.

On this morning's Teal Report with Dan Rusanowsky on the Sharks Audio Network, head coach David Quinn revealed that Duclair won't play tonight's game.

Duclair was ruled offside on what looked to be Mikael Granlund's game-tying goal against the Arizona Coyotes. The Sharks had two goals overturned in that game.

"It's something that we all saw, and it was unfortunate," Quinn said. "You can never take your foot off the pedal during a shift. We just didn't get onside quick enough."

Quinn was quick to say that one play isn't the only reason why Duclair is a healthy scratch.

"Duke's an important player for us. He's not going to be in the lineup tonight. Not just because of one play. He's been productive offensively, but there are other areas of his game that we all want him to a little bit better in," Quinn explained.

Duclair has been wildly inconsistent this season. He had a seven-game pointless streak, followed by five points in three games. Against Arizona, he was stopped on a breakaway as well.

"I definitely owe [Granlund] a few goals there after tonight," Duclair said postgame.

Quinn isn't afraid to send a message to anyone, regardless of their role on the team.

"Sometimes, sitting above and watching kind of gives a chance to press reset and get back at it," Quinn said.
