San Jose Sharks assistant general manager Ryane Clowe released a statement this morning stating that he has resigned from his position.
In the statement, Clowe stated, “I truly loved being back in San Jose and working with Mike Grier and his entire team but at this point, this decision is in the best interest of my family. “
Clowe was named an assistant general manager last summer, and spent just a single season in the role. Given the close proximity to the season, we now wait and see how general manager Mike Grier will handle the opening on his staff. At this time, it is not known what specifically led to Clowe’s resignation.
As a player, Clowe started his NHL career as a member of the Sharks during the 2005-06 season. He played eight seasons for the team in teal, including three as an alternate captain. In his 423 games as a Shark, he scored 101 goals and registered a total of 271 points.
At the end of his statement, Clowe added, “The franchise has an exciting future ahead and is set up to be successful for a long period of time, and I am grateful to Mike and Jonathan Becher for giving me the opportunity to return to San Jose."
