The San Jose Sharks have won the 2024 NHL Draft Lottery and will select first overall at the 2024 NHL Draft.
The Sharks have never picked first at the NHL Draft in the franchise's history. With a lot of success and a lack of high first-round draft picks, San Jose has never needed the first overall pick this badly since they came into the league in 1991.
Macklin Celebrini is the unanimously projected No. 1 pick in this year's draft. His likely addition to the Sharks will boost GM Mike Grier's rebuild process better than any other draft prospect.
Along with Will Smith, the Sharks now could have their No. 1 and No. 2 centers for the foreseeable future.
The Sharks will also select No. 14 overall via the Pittsburgh Penguins.
