Celebrini's Hot Start Puts Him In Rare Company cover image

Sharks rookie Macklin Celebrini joins Gretzky, Crosby, and Lemieux with an historic scoring pace, hinting at an equally legendary NHL future.

San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini finds himself in very elite company due to his hot start to the season.

He is now just the fourth teenager in NHL history to score 30 points in 20 games or fewer. The list of names he joins is ridiculous.

He joins Wayne Gretzky, who did it twice. He pulled it off in 19 games in 1980-81 and 20 games in 1979-80. Sidney Crosby did it in 19 games in 2006-07, and Mario Lemieux did it in 20 games in the 1984-85 season.

He now joins some of the best to ever lace them up in the NHL, which shows just how good he has been and potentially how good he can be at this level. If he keeps playing at this pace, he could find himself talked about in the same conversation as some of these greats by the end of his career.
