Former San Jose Sharks forward Timo Meier has been suspended one game for the New Jersey Devils for cross-checking against the Nashville Predators on Monday.
During the third period, Meier cross-checked Predators forward Zachary L'Heureux in the face and was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Meier will forfeit $45,833.33. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
The former Sharks winger has had a solid season for the Devils, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists in 24 games.
San Jose acquired Shakir Mukhamadulin and Fabian Zetterlund in the deal. Zetterlund is tied for the Sharks team lead in goals, with Tyler Toffoli and Mikael Granlund having nine.
