Dean Tait - Sport Shots - BREAKING: Sharks Send Quentin Musty Back To Juniors; Roster Cuts Continue

The San Jose Sharks have sent 2023 first-round pick Quentin Musty back to the OHL's Sudbury Wolves as the team cuts its training camp roster by 11.

Some of the roster cuts reported last night are now official, including 2022 first-round pick Filip Bystedt.

Musty is the biggest name to be removed from the training camp roster. The 19-year-old was pushing to make the opening night roster for at least a nine-game "tryout" before the decision was made.

Musty isn't eligible for the AHL due to his July birthday. The winger played two preseason games and did not register a point.

Fellow top prospect Kasper Halttunen was also cut from the NHL roster and will play for the 'Cuda in 24-25. Due to his European background, Halttunen is eligible for the AHL.

The Sharks also put two players on waivers: Justin Bailey and Jimmy Schuldt. Both will need to clear waivers for the team to send them down to the AHL. If both players clear, they are expected to play important roles for San Jose Barracuda head coach John McCarthy.
