Happy Sunday, San Jose Sharks fans, and a very Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Hopefully, you're getting some well-earned time to relax, maybe fire up the grill later, and enjoy the day.

While you settle in (coffee in hand, ideally), here’s a quick look back at the week that was on The Hockey News – San Jose Sharks site. Whether you’ve been following every move or just catching up now, we’ve got you covered.

This week, my colleague Jesse Courville-Lynch took a look at some of the news and rumors swirling around the Sharks, as well as some hypothetical moves the team could consider. Things are still relatively quiet, as the offseason hasn’t fully kicked into gear just yet. That said, with the NHL Draft Combine wrapping up last week, there have been some rumblings about who the Sharks might be targeting.

Outside of that, it wasn’t an overly action-packed stretch, but we kept you covered with what did happen. Looking ahead, we’ll continue digging into potential draft targets with the 2025 NHL Draft now less than two weeks away, and we’ll keep tracking all things Sharks as the offseason heats up.

So make sure to bookmark this page and stay locked in for everything San Jose Sharks, and if you happen to miss anything? No worries, we’ll have a new San Jose Sharks Weekly Rundown every Sunday to get you back up to speed.

Here is the week that was on the Sharks site:

With only two weeks until the NHL Draft, there’s more and more buzz circulating around the league. For the San Jose Sharks, they find themselves in a spot where they’ll more than likely be taking on a few tough contracts — but ones tied to players who can still make an impact on the roster and in the room. 3 Free Agent Targets For The San Jose Sharks 3 Free Agent Targets For The San Jose Sharks The San Jose Sharks find themselves in an interesting spot this off-season. They’re still deep into a rebuild, but this summer presents an opportunity to push that rebuild along a little faster. While GM Mike Grier seems to want the rebuild to happen somewhat naturally, you can bet he’ll be adding some fresh faces to the roster. With around $53 million in cap space, the Sharks need to at least hit the salary cap floor, but if they decide to spend more, it will likely translate into a better product on the ice. Sharks Should Consider Targeting Rangers’ Matt Rempe Sharks Should Consider Targeting Rangers’ Matt Rempe The San Jose Sharks are looking to get back into playoff contention as soon as they can, and while they may have to go through one more season of struggling before they can make a playoff push, there are some players they can target that can help them become a tougher team to play against. Sharks Should Explore Offer Sheets This Summer Sharks Should Explore Offer Sheets This Summer Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk regarding the potential of offer sheets and how they may be used more this summer than in years past. There are likely a handful of teams that are well positioned to take a chance on an offer sheet, and one of them is the San Jose Sharks. Former Sharks Head Coach Lands New Gig Former Sharks Head Coach Lands New Gig Yesterday, former San Jose Sharks head coach Bob Boughner landed a new job in the NHL as an assistant coach with the New York Islanders, joining Ray Bennett, who was also hired by the team. Boughner will work under Islanders head coach Patrick Roy as they look to turn the franchise around. Sharks Should Avoid Buying Out Marc-Édouard Vlasic This Summer Sharks Should Avoid Buying Out Marc-Édouard Vlasic This Summer The San Jose Sharks have a lot of questions that need answering this summer. Will they try and move up in the draft? What’s the plan for their players on expiring contracts? Will they look to land a big fish in free agency? There are plenty of unknowns—but one question that shouldn’t even come up is whether the Sharks should buy out Marc-Édouard Vlasic. Macklin Celebrini Finishes Third In Calder Voting, Lane Hutson Wins Award Macklin Celebrini Finishes Third In Calder Voting, Lane Hutson Wins Award San Jose Sharks' forward Macklin Celebrini was a finalist for the Calder Trophy this past season, and while he had a strong campaign and made a push to win the honour of being named rookie of the year, he finished third place in voting behind Calgary Flames' Dustin Wolf, and Montreal Canadiens' Lane Hutson.
