Robert Edwards-USA TODAY Sports - Sharks Defenseman Likely Out For Remainder Of The Season

San Jose Sharks head coach David Quinn told reporters today that he believes Ty Emberson will miss the rest of the season.

"Ty's got a ways to go," Quinn said after practice today. "Probably not [returning] with where we're at, but you never know. Stranger things have happened."

Emberson last played on February 29th against the Anaheim Ducks. He suffered the injury on his last shift of the first period and played just 6:35.

Quinn said that he suffered a laceration on his foot.

"It happened around the foot area," he said. When asked if it happened through his skate, Quinn said, "Yeah. It was crazy."

With Emberson likely done for the year, the defenseman showed strong play alongside Mario Ferraro. In 30 games this season, he had one goal and nine assists. He finished just -4 despite the Sharks giving up a ton of goals.

Emberson was claimed from the New York Rangers during the preseason and will be an RFA with arbitration rights after this season.
