The San Jose Sharks ECHL affiliate, the Wichita Thunder, pranked its fans by saying it will rebrand after the season ends.
"We, as a whole, feel that this is a great opportunity to highlight the full history of minor-league hockey from day one in Wichita, dating back to 1980! We do appreciate the support that's been given to the Thunder for the past 32 seasons, and hope that the support continues as we navigate this rebrand," the article wrote. "If you've read this far, thank you and APRIL FOOLS!"
The Sharks have had the Thunder as an affiliate since 2022 and extended their partnership before this season.

The San Jose Barracuda joined the fun when they said they'd swap mascots with the Thunder as if they did a transaction for a player.
The Thunder won't change their name after their season and Frenzy will remain with the 'Cuda.
