San Jose Sharks top prospect Will Smith has a chance to score the most points in a single freshman NCAA season in the last 30 years.
Boston College beat Michigan Tech 6-1 in the regional semis at the National Tournament. Smith earned an assist, bringing his point total to 68.
His 68 points lead the entire NCAA. He is now three points behind Kyle Connor and Jack Eichel for the most points by a freshman in a single season since 1994.
Smith and BC are moving on to the regional finals, where they will play the winner of Quinnipiac and Wisconsin. If BC continues to win, Smith potentially has three more games to tie/break Eichel and Connor's point totals.
Smith scored five points in the Hockey East championship game.
Smith will play on Sunday at 1 p.m. PST to make the Frozen Four.
