Sharks Make More Cuts From Training Camp Roster cover image

The San Jose Sharks have once again reduced their 2025 Training Camp roster.

On Sunday morning, the Sharks announced that they had sent Haoxi {Simon} Wang and Carson Wetsch back to their junior teams for the 2025-26 season.

Wang, the Sharks’ 33rd overall pick in this summer’s NHL Draft, will return to the Ontario Hockey League’s Oshawa Generals for his second season in a top-tier junior league. At the time of the announcement, the Generals had already played three games without Wang in the lineup and held a record of 1-2-0. Wang is also committed to Boston University for the 2026-27 season.

Wetsch on the other hand, was selected in the third round of the 2024 NHL Draft by the Sharks. After three seasons with the Western Hockey League’s Calgary Hitmen, Wetsch was traded in May to the Kelowna Rockets. Like the Generals, the Rockets have played three games so far, but have recorded a 2-1-0 record to start the season.

This season will likely be Wetsch’s final year in the WHL, as he’ll be eligible to play in the American Hockey League next season.

Neither move was surprising, and we’re likely to see more cuts to the training camp roster in coming days.
