San Jose Sharks' defensemen Nick Leddy suffered an injury in the game last night against the New York Rangers.

After taking a hit from Will Cuylle behind the his own net, he was instantly in pain and looked to be favouring his shoulder. After spending some time on the bench with the medial staff, he eventually went to the dressing room and it was later announced, he would not return.

On the hit, it looked like Leddy may have separated his shoulder on impact, it was right on is shoulder and right away he looked to be in pain.

At this time, there hasn't been any word on if he is going to miss time and if so, how much. But based on how much pain he looked to be in, he could miss a few games.

If he does, the Sharks will likely insert Sam Dickinson into the lineup on Friday night against the Dallas Stars.

Unfortunately, the Sharks have had a lot of injuries to their blue line. They are also dealing with John Klingberg (lower body), Shakir Mukhamadullin (upper body) being out the lineup.

There is an old saying in sports that one man's injury is another man's opportunity. If that is the case, Dickinson could have some run way to get into games and stay there.
