The San Jose Sharks recalled top goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov for the first time since they acquired him from the Nashville Predators last offseason.
Fellow goaltender Vitek Vanecek was injured during the first period in the Sharks game on Nov. 16 against the Pittsburgh Penguins for an undisclosed injury. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky couldn't provide a status update on Vanecek's status postgame.
Askarov joined the Sharks for morning skate ahead of their game against the Detroit Red Wings. Askarov is 6-3 with a 1.92 GAA and a .939 save %.
