The San Jose Sharks will host their second-ever Legends game tonight. On Saturday, they will retire Joe Thornton's number.
Thornton will double as team captain for both squads.
Joe Pavelski, Patrick Marleau, Ryane Clowe, Doug Murray, and Dan Boyle are among the participants. Thornton's kids, Wayne and River, will coach the event.
During his San Jose City Hall event yesterday, Thornton was asked if there were any particular players he hopes to play with in tonight's game.
"I think there's 36 guys in total, and honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing every single guy. I hope I get a shift with every single guy," Thornton said. "[The game] might take a long time. The guys are starting to trickle in now, and we're texting back and forth, and everybody's getting excited."
As the double-team captain, Thornton may get his wish to play with every single player.
