The San Jose Sharks AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, announced its training camp roster and preseason schedule today.

Leading the way for the Cuda is Shakir Mukhamadullin. The defenseman is expected to take a significant role this season. This will be his first entire season in North America.

Although Sharks head coach David Quinn was impressed with his time at the NHL training camp, he still felt that the best place for him to develop was in the AHL.

"From what I've been told, he certainly understands that's the best thing for his development," Quinn said this morning. "He certainly knows how impressed we were with what he did here in the training camp, and it's all part of the process."

Some familiar faces will start the season in the AHL, hoping to make it back to the NHL this season.

Ozzy Wiesblatt, Brandon Coe, Tristen Robins, and Danil Gushchin should be some of the first names that the Sharks call up if they need forward help.

The goaltending situation is tricky as at least one of the four will be headed to the Sharks ECHL affiliate, the Wichita Thunder. Beck Warm, Magnus Chrona, Georgi Romanov, and Eetu Makiniemi are the netminders in camp.

Makiniemi is coming off a hip injury and has familiarity with head coach John McCarthy and his staff.

The Cuda also announced they will play two preseason games. Both games are against the Bakersfield Condors.

The Condors will host the Barracuda on Friday, Oct. 6. The Cuda will host the Condors on Sat. Oct. 7 at Tech CU Arena.
