The San Jose Sharks recalled Jacob Peterson on Saturday in response to Mikael Granlund going on IR.
Peterson will play in the NHL tonight against the Colorado Avalanche. His ability to play center or wing gives the Sharks more flexibility.
Peterson was waived on Oct. 6, along with Ryan Carpenter and Oskar Lindblom. There was speculation that he could've been claimed, but he was eventually assigned to the AHL.
Jacob Peterson Shouldn't Go Unclaimed
"A player does not need to pass through waivers if the player has not been on the NHL active roster for a cumulative 30 days since last clearing waivers, OR has not played in 10 or more NHL games," - via CapFriendly.
Due to that rule, Peterson will also give the Sharks even more flexibility if Granlund is not out long-term.
