Kahkonen made 43 saves, including 18 in the first period. Fabian Zetterlund, William Eklund, and Justin Bailey scored for the Sharks.
Trevor Moore, Quinton Byfield, and Drew Doughty scored for the Kings, and David Rittich made 27 saves.
Despite the high shot total, the Sharks battled all night and were determined to keep the Kings off the board.
