The San Jose Barracuda begin their AHL season tonight against the Rockford Ice Hogs.

The San Jose Barracuda begin their second season at Tech CU Arena against the Rockford Ice Hogs at 7 p.m.
San Jose Sharks top prospect Shakir Mukhamadullin is starting his first full season in North America. Barracuda head coach John McCarthy plans to use him in all situations.
"He's an interesting prospect with size and skating ability," McCarthy said. "Putting him in situations where he can have success."
The Barracuda held media availability on Wednesday, and GM Joe Will and head coach John McCarthy discussed what to expect this season.
"The answer is yes," McCarthy said about making the postseason. "Like I said, we're excited. We have a lot of guys with a year under their belt and have already added a lot of standard-bearing type of players that will fill some leadership roles for us. So that's our expectation."
The Cuda will carry three goaltenders this season: Magnus Chrona, Eetu Makiniemi, and Georgi Romanov.
"For right now, we have three goalies here, and we're going to use all three of them," McCarthy said. "We're taking it day by day, week by week. We don't have a grand master plan worked out yet. We know that all three of them have to play."
Tonight's starter hasn't been revealed, but if healthy, Makiniemi projects to be the starting netminder.
The Barracuda announced they had signed Justin Bailey and Tanner Kaspick to contracts after the Sharks brought them in on PTOs.
Tristen Robins was injured during last weekend's two preseason games and is not expected to be ready to play this weekend. With Mikael Granlund on IR for the San Jose Sharks, the Cuda centermen will be playing for a chance at an NHL call-up tonight.
