Nikolay Goldobin was drafted in the first round by the San Jose Sharks in 2014, and while it didn't work out with San Jose, he is now lighting up the KHL.
The 28-year-old is second in the entire league, scoring 77 points (36 goals, 41 assists). He plays for Moscow Spartak, who sit in fourth place in the Western Conference.
His offensive season has been so elite; he broke the team record for points when he scored his 72nd point.
Goldobin was a highly thought-of prospect within the Sharks organization, but it never worked out in San Jose. He made his NHL debut during the 2015-16 season and played nine games, scoring one goal and adding an assist.

Goldobin was fed a perfect pass by none other than Joe Thornton and beat New York Islanders goalie Jaroslav Halak.
The Sharks traded Goldobin to the Vancouver Canucks and a 2017 fourth-round pick for Jannik Hansen.
Goldobin would stay with the Canucks for four seasons but would bounce up and down between the AHL and NHL. He played 114 games in Vancouver and had 18 goals and 26 assists. The 2018-19 season was the most time he spent in the NHL in one season. He played 63 games and had 27 points (7 goals, 20 assists).

There were rumors that the Russian winger wanted to return to the NHL during the 2023 off-season, but nobody took a chance. With the season he is having now, it wouldn't surprise anyone to see another NHL club give the former first-rounder a chance.
