Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports - Macklin Celebrini Hasn't Made Decision To Join Sharks; Excited To Be Part Of Bright Future

The San Jose Sharks selected Macklin Celebrini first overall, but the No. 1 pick still has not decided to go pro or return to Boston University.

"No, I don't," Celebrini said when asked if he had a timeline for when he would make his decision.

Celebrini joins a Sharks franchise that has slowly loaded up on top-tier talent. The centerman said that San Jose has one of the best prospect pools in the NHL.

"I mean, it's an exciting opportunity because you get to build a group. They have a young core that's very special," Celebrini said. "I feel like they're moving in the right direction and building the right way. I'm super excited to join the organization. I can't wait to see where we go."

The Sharks selected Sam Dickinson 11th overall. Dickinson echoed the same thoughts about the prospect pool as Celebrini.

"I think it's a prospect group that is one of the best in the league," Dickinson said.

Dickinson said he knows Celebrini well and has played with him for two games at the U17s two years ago.

"I know Mac a good amount. I couldn't be more excited to be able to play with him," Dickinson said. "I've played two games with him in my life, so we'll see if we can jump a couple more up there."

Celebrini said the moment he heard his name announced at the Sphere, it was "special."

"It was an amazing feeling. It is a dream of mine ever since I was a kid just to get selected in the NHL," he said. "To go to an organization like that, the only word I can use to describe it is special."

The Sharks have a new era in San Jose. Celebrini and Will Smith headline the new era.
